After a setup, fret polish, new pickups, etc. my B.C. Rich became a really great player.

That model was actually my first 7 string. The trem sucked (of course), the neck was shaped nicely, but the frets were poorly worked, and I had to shim the neck (where it sets in the pocket as well as the canter) and the nut (cut too low on one side).

I would say buy it. I do have to say though, the body shape sets VERY NICELY in a classical playing position with the lower bout between the legs. The way it plays when setting was the only reason I kept it as long as I did.

the NJ series are well worth the money for what they go for. the platinum series on the other hand dude, really isnt worth much. play it and see how it is. if you found a good one (they're pretty hit and miss) then snag it, but check it out first

Thanks guys.
I passed on it. After thinking about it, I'd much rather buy a schecter or something.

OrsusMetal is a jewel in the rough
The 26.5 scales aren't way too bad if you have bigger hands. But if you have troubles stretching around the first 5 frets already, I'd stay away from them. Schecter did have a 25.5 scale 7 string last year that you could probably still get ahold of. Nice guitar too. The 007 elite.

I'd say the only real issue with that B.C. Rich is most likely going to be the bolt-on. A huge block...

For any that care. I sent BC Rich an email asking about 7 strings and I got a response

" Thanks for your email. We read each one. I cannot release too much information, but just know that a 7 string model has been discussed lately. So hang in there!

~R"

Eat beef jerky and save the chidren!
