Locking Tuners?
Hey guys,

I want to get a set of locking tuners on my Cort Viva 7-string, but I can't seem to find any 7 string sets anywhere I look. I'd preferably like to get a set of the Planet Waves tuners as I have them on my 6 string Ibanez now and I love em. But I e-mailed Planet Waves and they don't seem to want to respond about whether they actually make a 7 string set, or where I could get them if they do. I guess I'd be ok with Sperzels, or anything of similar quality, but where can I get them?

Also, (and I'm not sure if this matters), but the headstock configuration goes like this: 5 on the top
2 on the bottom

Warmoth sells the Schaller locking tuners as singles, and they drop right in Gotoh-sized holes, in most cases. Noodles has a set, and they're really good tuners, with a nice 18:1 ratio. I need to get some for my Washburn...

Schaller makes much better tuners than Planet Waves, and they are priced individually (sets are no cheaper). I think they are the nicest tuners I've ever used, and have the entire locking mechanism in the same small profile.

I might buy a set of those. The ones on my 1527 are pretty damn retarded, The high E, and high B strings... take about 2 1/2 full twists to get down 1/2 a step.... and it's not precise tuning, because you can tell when the gear has jumped to the next grip, because they're a 1/3ish twist of the same tone... then instantly a new tone. I dunno, they suck pretty badly, and can randomely unwind 4 full steps while using the trem.

That's sort of the antithesis of the idea of locking tuners. Winds cause tuning problems by slipping over each other, so the idea is to have less than one full wind.

For a Floyd (or Edge) guitar, I'd say buy some high-quality non-locking tuners, as they're redundant...

They replaced the Jackson Gotohs perfectly on Noodles' guitar. Aren't the Ibby tuners essentially the same thing?
