whosdealin is a jewel in the rough
Ibanez uv777 question

What are the differences between the new production uv777 and the older ones made in the late 1990's. Are the necks different as far as thickness, etc.

The necks are thinner and also better profiled - less 'square', they have a more rounded, very shallow 'C' shape to them. Fretwork was generally better, the bodies were generally better quality wood and they just received more time in manufacture.

The bridges have changed since then (From the Edge 7 to the LoPro Edge 7 to what is now the Edge Pro 7) and the colours have got a whole lot less cool. We had multicolour swirls (known as MC's or swirls), green/black (greendots/'91 UVs), white (PWH's), green with maple fingerboards and yellow/green pups (GN's), black/silver (Silverdots/ '97 UV's)...

Now we have some heap of shit with a plastic scratchplate and a shitty pyrmaid on the body. Teh new UV777PBK is my least favourite of the lot.

But to summarise, yeah, the necks are really why people can't stand the new ones. the Silverdot was the last good one they made.

Meh. I love my UV777PBK. I didn't want a garish paint job, I like the neck profile (although not as much as my Carvin), I LOVE EdgePro's. I'll agree the fretwork isn't the best, but oh well. To each his own. Aside from an old green dot, no old UV really interests me.

I miss the good ole' days

Origanally posted by Variant - Pulled from the river Styx, the mighty black oar of doom in hand! I certainly would not call this particular guitar an "axe" more like a club. Noodles' KxK would run through an emo, spilling his insides for a quick death, this blunt mace would bludgeon the unfortunate effeminate soul, breaking bones, and causing internal bleeding to lead only to a slow, painful death
