Good point. I'll start hitting my recordings hard and see if there are any local musicians looking for a kick arse metal band I fucking wish. I'd have a custom in no time.

True I just wish someone would build it for me for a reasonable price on a college, part time working budget. What about Sherman? I dunno anything about his company. Think he'd at least consider and quote me?

i was going to say to ask mike, it'll probably be a little over 2k depending on what you want but if you explain what you want to him i'm sure he'll work out the best cost effective way to go about it and it'll probably still work out to be the best guitar you'll ever play.

Awesome. I must make an attempt to talk to Mike. I've seen pics of his work here and it's all looked amazing. Seems like a VERY cool dude to boot. Thanks for that input dude.

If you don't like the signature inlay, why not just get a Japanese ESP Stef-7?

They're not much over $2k, and it's pretty much the same guitar, minus the inlay.

Okay, ignore my last post.

I hate to say this (and sound like someone's dad), but people in college, working part-time jobs shouldn't be buying $2000+ guitars. Sometimes all the GAS talk on this board leads to gear envy. In some ways, we egg each other on, but seriously, do you really need a custom guitar at this stage in your life?

Keep your money for the basics like food, shelter, clothing, tuition and books. You'll have plenty of opportunities to buy expensive guitars later.

Hell, i've got a really good job that i've been doing for nearly 15 years, and even i can't justify spending $2k on a custom guitar.

Priorities!

True. I've got other, less expensive gear to buy. For example, my Lexicon Lambda and EZDrummer software. I'll just let the ideas fester and when I'm able, I'll pull the trigger.

Actually man, the 2008 MIJ Carpenters go for $3000. Really anything in the $2000 or above range it just makes more sense to go for a custom shop IMO. Mike Sherman is a good place to go, or as a Bernie Rico Jr dealer I could hook you up with a custom shop 7 for cheap. Either way a custom ESP would run $4000+ and take a year to finish.

If you're on a tighter budget, like Darren said there are good deals out there like Carvin or imports.

The Stef-7 25.5 model is discontinued FWIW.

Yeah, kinda don't want another green guitar either. I think I'm just gonna take some money and get my Lexicon Lambda, EZDrummer, Drumkit From Hell, and a Bugera 6262. I'll worry about another guitar later.
