Where can i get a flamed maple top sheet?
ive looked on the internet and i can only find 1/8" thin flamed maple tops
, i heard you can get thinner more flexable sheets, i need one to add to a project guitar im redoing. also are these hard to add on top and apply. any suggestions will be greatly appreciated? thanks![]() |

Try searching for "flame maple veneer". That's what you're looking for.

ya, veneer is really thin almost paperlike

Noodles' KxK would run through an emo, spilling his insides for a quick death, this blunt mace would bludgeon the unfortunate effeminate soul, breaking bones, and causing internal bleeding to lead only to a slow, painful death |

o.k. i searched and i still get only 1/8" inch, but thats good only if its flexable to put on a rounded top body. i found some sites and it goes from 20-40 bucks depepending on the quality. i dont want paper like maybe just a bit more thikness to the top sheet.

Generally, you only find either paper-thin veneers or thicker wood tops that need to be bent and glued using a vacuum press. Of course, any exotic wood place will mill stuff to custom specs for a fee.

Your profile says you play an S7. If what you're trying to refinish is that guitar, applying a veneer to the arched top is no trivial business pal. You MUST use a vacuum press and buy a thin veneer, something like 1/40" or so. If it were a flat top guitar a la RG-type, then you could use a thicker veneer and could potentially press it with more rudimentary methods, like putting a sand bag on top or things like that. But refinishing your S7 with a veneer is not simple business. Here is a place to find some good thin veneers from:
Exotic Wood Veneer, Vacuum Press Systems, Vacuum Bags, Veneering Tools and Veneering Supplies at VeneerSupplies.com not the cheepest but good quality and lots of options. Good information on their site too. GL. p.s. BTW, not only should you need a vacuum press, but also need to be skilled with a powered edge trimmer (read: not a Dremmel, they're simply under-powered for that). The S body is a f*cking b*tch to work with. Believe me. |
