NGD, complete with EPIC picstory! (56k, PHAILURE)

SO what will proceed to ensue will be my massive picstory of my day. I'll start it off by saying I had to ship off a guitar and pick up a different guitar.

AHH! waking up and taking pictures first thing is not a good idea!

Let's clean up and tidy ourselves up shall we? Ahh, much better!

What's for breakfast? Mmmmm, leftover Subway!

Better put on appropriate attire for the day (maybe it will clue you in to what I'm getting!)

Ahhh there she is, the good ole transport!

A pretty view on the way to my destination

And another pretty view...

And my first destination for the day, my old school! It pays to have worked at the bookstore to get discounts on shipping things such as guitars!

So I head back home with no word yet on the guitar I'm picking up, so I decide to pop in a supreme movie...

In the middle of the movie I receive this e-mail...

But wait Matt, you have your Solid State electronics class today! Making the trip to Denver wouldn't leave you enough time to make it to class!

so I ponder and evaluate the situation...

and come to a conclusion!

what is my conclusion you ask? I think the picture speaks for itself

and with that out of the way, let's roll!

Now we're gonna need some good tunes to start this trip...ah ha, this will work!

Denver here I come!

Caught another pretty view on the trip up...

I managed to capture a pic of one of the trains as it passes by

Hmmm I wonder what gas prices are like today?

I witness this vehicle in front of me and snap a pic, I dont know if you can see it but the license plate says "Boog" and I thought it was funny. It was about this point I realized how hard it is to drive and take pictures at the same time!

So I'm almost to my destination when there's an accident and the cop on the scene starts flooring it in reverse to block off the lane and almost hits me!

Ah ha, we have arrived!

After spending quite some time in the store messing around with my new guitar (yes you will see it shortly), I leave with this expression and my seal of approval.

On our way back home!

But first I must make a slight detour to see a sight that I had seen a few days ago on the way up to the All That Remains/Chimaira/Divine Heresy show...

too hard to read? Maybe this will be clearer...

so finally on my way i catch a pic of one of the light rails

and a picture of the juvenile hall!

yeah about time for gas with this guzzler for a vehicle...

While I'm at it, I need something to snack on the rest of the way...

but what food is complete without a beverage?

and some more tunes for the final strech home...

This is New Life Church. I live just a few miles from it. It's fucking HUGE!

home at last!

And now is the moment of truth...latch 1!

latch 2!

final latch!

oooh! such a crappy pic for such a beautiful guitar!

a headstock shot

kickass inlays!

another body angle

I will get much more, proper pics of her up when I have more time. It looks much more amazing in person than pictures can show.

First impressions off the bat...I'm really impressed. The neck is wide and flat and very fast, the inlay work and fret work seems top notch, no finish flaws. I think the D-Activators are gonna have to go, they are very clear, very loud, compressed, and have amazing harmonics just like they say they do, but as many people have said before the bridge just seems kinda lifeless and bland. In contrast I absolutely LOVE the neck pickup! They are pretty noisy. I think this guitar is calling for some Blackouts. The damn guitar sustains for days! I've only had super strat guitars so I'm not used to how this guitar hangs yet. It is slightly neck heavy but not too big a bother, but it just hangs odd with its overall position to me. Maybe if I get a different shorter strap or maybe I just need to get used to such a style of guitar. I have only played it through my crappy practice amp, I'll hear what she can really do tomorrow at rehearsal. Jason at DCGL as usual was an absolute pleasure to deal with and the setup on her is SUPERB! I am a happy camper!

Fuck it, you only live once!

Nah, there's also this one: http://www.sevenstring.org/forum/sev...-not-epic.html

Those Xiphoses look pretty good from peoples first impressions, although I'm still a bit concerned over the Indonesian builds. I guess I'd have to play one for myself to really know what's what.

How's the fretwork on that beast?

Great picstory Matt! Must be awesome that you are within driving distance to DCGL... that would be SERIOUSLY dangerous for me if I lived that close! Congrats on the Xiphos 7, they are pretty sweet guitars!

No there is another member that got a Xiphos and had a picstory before me...sadly I think I'm the 2nd person on the board to have one. The guitar is made in Indonesia

Ah but you see the difference can clearly be seen, even in the title, in that Matt's picstory is clearly of epic proportions!

Honestly, for an Indonesian-made guitar I think it's a great build (at least the one at NAMM was ). I wouldn't hesitate to buy one just because of where it was made.

Matt.... for such a long picstory.... only four shots of the guitar? C'mon man.... tsk tsk!
