Ideas for my 7620?

ok I had my 7620 borrowed to my bandmate for ages now cause he somehow broke his LTD 6-string on stage (the trem to be more precise) and Thomann took AGES not beeing able to get replacement parts (its been months now). but now he finally managed to just get his money back from them and bought a new, better LTD (MH400 if I remember correctly? too lazy to look it up now, its a 6 again though lol) so I will get my 7620 back soon (probably today or next week).

what I will definitally do to it when I have some time is restring and give it a setup. its got some problems staying in tune it seems and I suspect the trems knife-edges to be worn. will have a look at them when I take the old strings off. can I do anything to fix that? or could something else be the problem?
I actually thought about blocking the trem

also:
any ideas what else I could do to it to make it something really cool again? its gonna be my backup guitar for the RAN. it has the original neck-PU (that I actually hardly use) that the previous owner got rewound and rewaxed he said and a Duncan Custom in bridge.
I thought about doing something that maybe changes the look a bit, giving it something new and fresh you know? also has a few dings and scratches (nothing too deep though).
I remember loving the look of that RG7 I once saw (I think it belonged to Munkey from Korn) that was all black with white binding and PUs. of course I am nowhere near skilled enough to attempt putting binding on a guitar, hmmmmm.........

have any ideas for me? start talking guys!

also: what strings? I play D
Addario 10-59 on my 26.5" scale RAN, same for the 25.5" RG? or GHS 10-60 maybe? or go with elixir 10-68 once more?

ok just kidding.
are you comfortable painting a guitar?
if you are, you could sand it, paint it black again, put automotive striping on it as fake binding, and then clear it over. you could fill in the neck pickup cavity while youre at it if you dont want it.

as far as the knife edges, can you get us a picture?

LOL sorry guys, I dont intend to sell it, its my only other 7 besides the RAN and I like to have a backup just in case.

will try to get a pic of the knife-edges tomorrow or so, just hope my camera will be good enough to show the details"

no neck-PU filling I'd say but repainting... hmmmmmmm maybe... that would probably be kind of time-consuming though I guess? havent really painted much so far. I just dont have much time these days, lots of work to do

was thinking about getting some white PU-covers before but I'm not much of a fan of that if its missing the binding, for some reason thats just a part of that look for me

first think I do I think is playing it for a bit to see in what shape exactly it is and also to see about the tuning-problem then I'll at least give it new strings and a good cleaning. when I take the strings of I'll try and get pics of the knife-edges or find out what else is wrong. I hope my friend didnt kill the tremolno! lol

deal with the tuning issue, but maybe leave it and let it get character all by itself? in other words, dont give a rats ass about it so long as it plays and stays in tune.

3 cheers for free gear!

was wondering: how hard is it to do a transparent paintjob? like a trans black for example?

figured it might be cool to put a nice veneer on top of the body....

but that sounds like a lot of work and with my lack of time and my lazyness I'll probably end up not doing it

EDIT: forgott to mention: I have a good friend who is a carpenter and could probably help me with woodwork and stuff like that
