To 7 string, or just wait for 8?

Since UPS broke the COW i was getting, and they are being mega douches about how to handle the situation, its leaving me with the money i paid and thats it, and that is going to take some time. i suppose it could be worse....

now my question is stated in the title. im going nuts with out some extended range. i have a bunch of material in my head for a 7 and nadda to play it on. damn me for writing music that requires some variation in key and range. the question really is would i be better off just waiting for the SC608b? cuz i see that being nothing but fun, minus the cleans. i'm more of a passive in neck possition guy in that respect.

i'd get a 7321 to hold me off, but i cant stand the sound of basswood with any thing i have tried thus far. i would be willing to try 7321 (or other basswood guitar) if some one can tell me some good p-ups that have a good high end with out craptastic mid and low end response to them. i don't like trems except kahlers. so no suggesting i buy such and such with said trem, unless its a kahler.

besides my really limiting stipulations, willing to accept ideas?

Budget? If you don't mind the wait and spending a little money, get a custom.

I have an Oni seven string and it kicks the butt of every other guitar I've ever played. Talk to Dan (member dpm) about getting one. I'm willing to bet that you'll be very happy you did.

my budget isnt that big really. i don't want to wait too long either. i've started a savings for a Sherman after talking some small details with Mike, and i would like to not have to dip into that if possible. right now i could drop 4-500, after every thing gets settled with UPS i could probably do 900-1300 max. hmm, maybe i should just wait and put all that into the Sherman fund.... but the stuff is in my head now :-(

UPS is possibly shipping it back to sakeido, and giving him a refund to refund to me, instead of just refunding me or giving it to me and the price to fix it. i need to call them up again and get the full story from a management individual.

there is a 7321 on ebay with an X2N 7 in it, i know i played an RG with a normal X2N that sounded decent. it has an EVO7 for the neck pup though.... its a good price too. gah! indecisions abound! i know i wont go any less in quality than the 7321 at least :-p this situation really sucks

So if I understand the situation correctly, you paid for a 607B and have that money coming back to you, right? If that's the case, I'd hold out and just pay the extra money to upgrade to the 608B.

This is a shitty situation, and I think you'd be better off having a little patience, and buying a much better guitar than dropping the cash now.
