The new Stephen Carpenter Baritone 7

Had about an hour's time with it at Sam Ash through a peavey XXL and a Marshall DSL. Man I would not shell out 850 bucks for this thing. I know it's a neck through, but the width is massive. It's like holding a baseball bat. The tone from this thing was way too dark and bassy. I couldn't even get a decent clean tone. The emg's are real close to the bridge and there wasn't too much difference between them tonally.
ESP definatly designed this thing for 1 finger nu metal riffs, I don't think you could do much else-of course that's SC's forte'.
You wouldn't have to double track rhytem guitars with this puppy..

No thanks I'll pass. I forsee lot's of these axes going cheep on ebay in a few years as kids get tired of it.

Just my 2 cents............................................. ........................................

I haven't tried it myself, but I must say ESP's 7 strings are a few notches below the Ibanez 7s, for sure.

Right on. I've haven't read any first hand reviews on this guitar.
Looks like I won't be picking up one of these anytime soon.

nice cat. LOL
Welcome aboard;p

AS far as the SC Guitar, i havent played one, but i wouldnt mind it. I Cant STAND That inlay though. The thing that bothers me : No neck pickup, and no floating bridge. I want a Ibanez w/ a 27" scale neck..thats affordable (like 7421XL). But has a floating bridge (Thats the 1077XL right?) but i either cant find them or they're expensive. Not like i can buy one right now anyway. I still am waiting for my universe to get here/

Glory and praise to Thee, Satan, on high,
Where Thou didst reign, in Hell where Thou dost lie,
Vanquished, silent, dreaming eternally.
Grant that my soul some day rest close to Thee
Under the Tree of Knowledge which shall spread
Its branches like a Temple overhead.

nabeelm, welcome to the board!! That ESP guitar is sweet looking. I downloaded it off of jemsite the other day when you posted it there. I like keeping pics of exotic guitars. Stay and chat a while, we need more numbers here!

btw dont mind my cat he's just trying to make himself feel important.
I would agree with that comparison of ESP VS Ibanez-Ibby's are better.
I owned the 6 string version of that ESP , the F-200. It had EMG-hz's. I got rid of that axe pretty quick. It just didn't play as well...

I played a F207 once. i actually thought it was pretty decent. I still prefer my Ibanezes though.

I LOVE the looks of those ESP F-series 7's.... More so in the red and silver than in the black, but still... and I'm so NOT a goth metal guitarist, but man, how could you NOT feel evil with one of those slung on?

I played an LTD SC baritone the other day at a used guitar store, though I didn't plug it in. It was ok, but the unamplified tone seemed very thin and non-resonant, which usually means it's going to sound like ass when plugged in, even with EMGs.

The neck on the one I played didn't seem overly large, but I just can't play good leads on a 27" instrument--the strings seem too taut to get a nice grip on for my purposes. Also, the long scale might just give you too much low end--you don't want to intrude on the bass player, after all.
