Jaaaaamie is a jewel in the rough
7 string DiMarzio pups

I've finally decided that I'm gonna ge the RG1527.

I've never tried DiMarzios but I've heard they're the best and I'm not paying 150 quid for 707s.

Anywaaay, I wanna have a DiMarzio PAF 7 in the neck and either an Air Norton 7 or a DP 705 X2N 7 BK in the bridge

Which combination do you think would work better?

i've used the X2N7 and AN7 before... and they worked surprisingly well together! as to be expected, there's a slight volume drop (and i mean slight) with the AN7, but it wasn't an issue for me at all. great combo!

Hughes and Kettner Matrix 100, but I never use the distortion channel really. Always goes through my Pod xt live.

I play mainly heavy progressive shit. Crowbar, meshuggah, textures.

I just want a clear tight tone really.

Evolution would be a nice tight tone that you want. Air Norton 7 is a nice neck pickup.

Tight clear tone is X2N7/Evo7/DS7/DA7 territory. If you like the X2N sound then by all means go for it.

Perhaps an X2N7 in the bridge and a DS7 in the neck with the blade towards the bridge would work?

Er... no. I'd doubt it.

If you were to put the DS7 in the neck then you'd get a much more aggressive sound from the neck.
