Zimbloth's Rico Jr Custom Annoyance (Advice Req'd)
I've had no issues with this guitar for well over a year now, but I just started to realize that the bridge (Tone Pros TOM type) on my custom shop 7 is annoying as hell. It seems like the saddles on the bridge stick into my hand and it's REALLY annoying.
Can anything be done on this? Do I have the Tone Pros on backwards somehow? Is the bridge just set too high? It's just digging into the bottom of my hand/palm and it's started to drive me crazy. I never noticed before somehow (probably distracted by the ridiculous tone and playability of the thing). It's making me tempted to throw an original floyd or a hipshot stoptail on there or something with a lower profile that's not so obnoxious. Again, I'm talking about the standard tune-o-matic / tone pros / gibson type bridge. Like this: ![]() ![]() |

I don't know man, 4 of my guitars have those bridges and they don't bother me at all.

That's the thing, I've been using these for almost 10 years now. Something has to be wrong here. Its like those edges of the saddles, that hold the strings or whatnot, they're kind of sharp and making resting my hand in the proper position really uncomfortable. I just don't know what I'm doing wrong or what to do. Anyone see anything in those pics that could give a clue? Maybe it's not even the saddles, but it's something there sticking into my palm.

I never had that problem with my old COW7. Could you maybe file down the corners on the saddles a little bit?

Looks like the bridge may be on backwards.
Or the one on my COW 7 was: ![]() |

Think so? That would explain things, but unless I'm going crazy I don't see a big difference between those pics and mine. In the closeup pic I took, the saddles where the strings sit are on the right side facing the tailpiece, isn't that how it's supposed to be?

I see a huge difference between those pics and yours. The saddles have a bevel to them, if you will. You've got the bevel facing the back of the body, and the others have the bevel facing the neck. I'd rather rest my palm on the bevel's face than that sharp corner at the top.
