![]() | Aslin-Dane 7 OK, I saw this on ebay a little while ago and after some research on the company, I decided to buy one (about $200 total factoring in shipping). It's ash body with maple/RW neck, TOM bridge, and hardtail. As that's a fairly unusual combo for bargain 7 and it's new, I figure it'd be good to upgrade. It comes, and I discover a few things. It's got about 3-piece body, 3-way switch, and what seems to be a 25.5" scale. The knobs are volume/tone/tone and the bottom one pulls up and it's a coil tap. It's a bolt-on neck...would be nice if the tolerance were just a little better on the left side but it's pretty solid nonetheless, and comfortable neck and body to play. Sound is...kind of mediocre amplified. Nothing really wrong with it -- the coil tap gives you a nice twang and the other sounds are usable, but an electronics upgrade is definitely something that might be advisable sometime later. I don't know why there aren't more 7's made with bigger cutouts or shapes like the Teaza or a singlecut for those of us who don't have skinny arms but the ergonomic shape is another reason I got it. Guess the appearance is another way I like to be unique. _______ Anyway, two main reasons I posted this. First, to let you know that there are a few more going through ebay in case people are interested, and second, to ask what upgrades would work the best on this thing (eventually; pretty much done buying gear for a little bit). I'm not quite sure what pickups, wiring combo, and whatever else might work the best on it, and would be interested in your input.
