Vigier only uses Alder, Maple, and Ash for its bodies though, so it's one of those three. The three best body woods, IMO.

Basswood sounds similar to alder, but better IMO; more low-mids. If you want more snap, there are a few that use ash.

I guess you're looking for a more "neutral" sound? Warmoth and other companies can make a body for you out of alder and you can put it together...or else just go for a small or custom builder.

Well right now the trem takes priority over the body wood, so I'll probably just grab the S7320, which is basswood, from memory. I have a couple of alder six-strings so I'm familiar with the tone. I've always planned on getting a Carvin at some stage so I guess that's the most viable option, but I should probably invest in a rig bigger than the pokepod I'm using now first, heh.

Seriously, alder sounds nothing like basswood. If anything, I'd say basswood sounds like a decidedly boring piece of mahogany - middy without any sparkle and a tad mushy in the bass... Alder, however is much tighter and has a nice sparkle to the highs.

Cheers
