Downtuning a Schecter C7 Blackjack
Alright, here is my deal. I want to get a 7string and hopefully hit F# on it. This is one of the guitars I'm looking at, it has a 26.5 scale. Has anyone here attempted this and with what results?
Cheers, |

Also, does anyone know of production long scale 7's that could be used instead, do not count out of productions like the rg1/2077, or if you do, specify that they are out of production please.

I did on my schecter. It worked somewhat. I had a thick enough string, and it played good. But the Duncan JB's don't like it that much.
Ignorance is not bliss. Ignorance only hides the truth. And the longer that truth has to hide, the more it stings when it makes itself known.

Yes with the right gauges/neck adjustments 26.5 works great. Just use a duncan custom o something else as the jb doesn't take kindly to that much low end.

It's kind of odd but my 7620 (25.5 scale) sounds better down-tuned than my Blackjack. Agreeing with Mr. Missing, it might be the pickups IMO. My invaders are louder than the JB/59.

I think it'd sound better on a Loomis, since it's Swamp Ash + Maple + Maple. The EMGs totally don't do it for me, but I still think it'd work better there.

definitely replace the bridge pickup for those low tunings. JB-7 FTL. Custom 7 ftw
