Well it's like anything on ebay. Some people don't know much about the item and list it, like this guy. While others are complete douches! This guy might not mean to rip people off but for this 1 nice guy theres 1,089,683 people on there wanting to screw you for $$$$. My friend bought a guitar and the ebay pic was a pretty good photoshop job! Needless to say that didn't go over well.

That's not an Ibanez serial number. I refer you to here. Look at the bottom of the page and you'll see that:

a) Z is not an Ibanez factory code.
b) There are too many numbers in it.
c) It should start 04 is it's a year old.

I know he says it's the model number, but as any Ibanez fan should know Ibanez models are named by series. If this is a Gio, the model name would be G-something. The only Gio-7 known to me (or the Ibanez Register) is the GRX-720.

I still say it's a scam.

Edit: If his son's 18, why didn't he just open the account himself?

Is it just me or does $350 seem like too much money for a used GIO? Here in JAPAN where things usually are much more expensive than everywhere else, a NEW 6-string GIO usually goes for 23,000 yen (less than $200).

Ibanez serial numbers don't start with Z, that's correct. F, S, and C, I believe (for Fuji-Gen, Samick, and Cort). there be a few W's (for World), but no Z's that I know of.

According to the Ibanez register, serial numbers can start with any of the following: F, H, I, C, P, S, W, J, LA, PRT, and if the guitar was made before 1987, A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, and L.

If the dude was going to pick a serial number, he could have at least picked a real one. My Ibanez starts with an F, meaning that it was made in the Fujigen factory and then it says 05, meaning 2005. Then 06367, meaning it was the 6,367th guitar made in '05.

Analysis of that serial number: Z000604143:

Z - no meaning. Nonsense. No such factory starting with that letter. No such serial number with that letter.
000 - it was made in the year 0 AD?
604143 - it was the 604,143rd guitar made by Ibanez in the year 0 AD?

100% scam. No doubt in my mind.
