![]() | Help me out kids. Alright, heres whats going down. Me and a couple friends are going to be starting a band. Think a cross between The Devil Wears Prada and The Acacia Strain. Two questions. 1. Would a seven string be sweet for this? Or should I stick to a six string and tune it down like I have been? 2. What should I get for a 7? I've been looking at the rg7321 and the c-7 hellraiser. I like the fact that the Schecter is mahogany, and has EMG's. I like the fact that the ibanez looks super badass. What would be the pros and cons of each? I would obviously upgrade the pickups in the RG if i chose it. Thanks bros, Ben |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Normally those bands use 6 string Les Pauls, and they detune them. I preffer a 7 string for low tunings, you know, it's other the response to low frecuencies and bla bla bla. I think that you should get the Schecter, it comes with EMG and you like them. If you buy the RG, then you will have to install new pickups, loose time, etc. I don't know if the mahogany+low gain pickups would be the right option for those type of rythms. But the K7 it's an awesome guitar. WTB Phonic Helix 24 mixer board Fuck US shipping only Last edited by skinhead; 12-03-2007 at 07:56 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | If you want tighter low end, go the Schecter. I had an opportunity to play both guitars side by side last weekend, and it's noticable what the slightly longer scale does for the muddiness of the low B. IMO, the factory action and set up is a bit whacked (from the 3 I've played, all the same), but I really think it could be a great guitar. Schecter Loomis-7 TOM |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | well how much do you use your top string? if youre happy with a downtuned 6, stick with it. Do you want more range though? a different feel? thats where the 7 string falls in to play if you like the look of the rg, but the mahogany, get an apex 2. they are about the same cost as the hellraiser. you can upgrade the pickups if youd like, to emgs, it will cost about 200 plus install or you could get the rg7321, get the emgs in it, get them installed, and have the rg with emgs and enough for a bk value menu visit. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Have you looked into getting an HRG? mahogany rg. IIRC, you can get em for around 800 after shipping to the us. there is also the rg7exfx2 (i think thats it). its a baritone 7 rg with emgs (but its basswood), for i believe like 600 + shipping. i just ordered an s7320 for 700. are any of those interesting to you? or are you settled on one of these 2? |
