+1 you could buy one used for less with better frets than that.

Take it to a tech and get it setup. Polish the frets and clean the board and your good to go. Musicians Friend will take it back no problem but they WILL NOT pay for the shipping. It cost me $50 to send a guitar back to them in the US. From Canada it will be more costly than the amount the setup will cost you no doubt. Plus it will probably take several weeks turnaround time before you get a new guitar if you send it back.

Dead but Dreaming is a jewel in the rough
My tech saw it today and reinforced my concerns, as well as pointing out some new ones. Someone already tried to level the frets but didn't crown them. So she's going back. Too bad! It's a pretty guitar, but it seems like it would be a lot of work just to get it to where it should be new.

This shop can get a good price on a Jackson COW or Ibanez S7320 however, so I may be pondering one of those. This whole experience really turns me off of online-ordering, atleast for an item like this.

It seems you definately got a used guitar. Pretty strange from an outfit like MF. I have gotten a couple of guitars from them including my Loomis and had no issues. Both guitars I got from them had never even been opened after the manufacturer more or less been used or tampered with.

If that's the case, I'd try to get them to eat the postage costs, they sent you an unusable guitar.

Yeah for sure, I'm gonna work on all the shipping costs (should be fun arguing with them on the phone ) and I gotta find some way to get a refund for the money I paid through customs, I think that would be through the government though.
