Very nice. I dig those slick inlays too.

by the way-- I disagree with what you said. With a shim under the nut, the neck can be dead straight with no dead notes (and fret-out if bending more than a whole step around 15 on the high E)
I prefer this set-up... yeah the bends sometimes fret out, but the action is godlike

(also if you have a zero-radiused fb like I will get on my custom 8, this isnt an issue)

for some reason, there is always rust on every schecter I see outside of a store... their parts corrode like crazy for some reason...

inlays are cool though
I haven't heard of having the neck completely straight, thanks for the info. Even though it works, it's definitely unconventional, so you'll have to pardon my ignorance.

You should be able to get steel wool from a big hardware store or some antique / hand crafted furniture stores. I think it's used in french polishing and other stuff like that but don't quote me. Be sure to get #0000 grade, it is the finest grade and wont scratch anything.

As mentioned,

just take it in to your tech and have a complete setup and fret leveling done.
Then she'll be just fine.

Oh, and congrats!

About the fret noise.

Check the trussrod. If that doesn't help;

Hold down the low B at the 3rd fret, check if the string has clearance all the way to the nut. If not the nut might be small or worn out, and you should get a new one.

Dead but Dreaming is a jewel in the rough
Thanks everyone!

The low B seems to have clearance, it doesn't hit the first fret or anything when I fret at the 3rd.

Awesome. I used to have one of those, I loved the way it played.

I'd send that thing back., you payed for new, so unless that thing has some godlike tone that you think warrants it. It's pretty bad shape IMO, definitely call them out on that.
