![]() | no, i was gonna look at ibanez rules or ask round for busted s7's or if need be buy a new s7320 and gut it. it would be a shame to do that to such a great guitar but a custom would be better...one would hope. |

![]() | lack of being able to flutter on a zr would be a bit off-putting and explains a few things. i don't do crazy bends but knowing i didn't have the option without diving would always be in the back of my mind. the sustain thing was vexing too. overall i think i'm gonna have to go with the ZR. ...now if only they made it it with a u-bar ![]() |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | i think it's funny how so many of you put so much stock into ONE guys youtube video about kahler flaws. the first time i've ever heard of these flaws on kahlers was from this video. i've mentioned this before, but i've used a kahler equipped charvel for years (with brass rollers and a kahler locking nut at that!) and have no more stability issues with it than an OFR. alot of you mention he was also using a floyd lock nut with the kahler, maybe he didn't lock the nut down tight enough? he never mentioned anything about setup and adjustments on the kahler either. i'll believe a review when i see someone post a video of an ENTIRE setup AND demonstration of whatever trem is being reviewed. now, on topic , i just got to try a 6 string ZR. it was definitely a solid trem, but i HATED the feel of it. very stiff. i'll take the kahler. |

![]() | It's all in the set up, gang. Once you bend a string, either the Kahler cam rotates forward, or the ZR pitches forward. What occurs on both bridges is that the string bend applies tension to the springs on either bridge and stretches them. As the bend is released, the tension on the springs is released as well. If both bridges are set up correctly, they will both return to pitch...even a Floyd will! If either bridge is not properly set up, neither will return to pitch. If they are both set up correctly, and either one still does not return to pitch, then the problem is that the string is obviously catching/binding somewhere...which cannot occur at the bridge on either one. Dead strings will do all of this as well. The problem has to be at the nut/locking nut/string lock/tuning machines/neck. To give this third party validation, Jerry Cantrell of Alice In Chains has used Kahlers since the beginning of time and he is a string bending freak. For a man who is so into what he does when he plays, I can assure you if his guitar was going out of tune, it would not be at the next show. It's all in the set up...I hope I help yo guys out a bit. If you guys ever need anything, let me know. |
