S720 + EMG's?
I was wondering if anyone in here popped EMG 7s in an s7320.
I havent heard em in a mahogany guitar before. Actually, i hate emg's typically when i hear em, but i heard em in a few different mahogany guitars recently (with dual batteries too), and i've been impressed. it seems like emgs report the tone of the guitar without adding so much of their own flavoring i guess, so that would make sense. anyways, anyone put em in? I'd put it this way... EMG - 92% Tone - 8% Wood Passive - 40-70% Tone - 60-30% Wood Maybe might numbers aren't perfect but it gives you the basic idea... Just my 2 cents! Up the shut ...., you must.

IIRC the s7320 is basswood not mahogany.. And I think 7soh had a older S series not the s7320..

yeah thats the point of the s series is that its mahogony but not too heavy cause its small. the satch model is a basswood s basically.

Mahogany, and he installed them in his S7320 - which IIRC was his first 7. He then went out and got an S7420 too.

na, it wasnt my first 7, i'v had a rg7321 and a schecter(shut up stitch
)007 elite, anyway, yea, they sound bad ass, to be quite honost, i'v owned 2 s7320's and the one i put emgs with just owns, its absolutly perfect. I would highly reccomend it, but i kinda agree about the tone of an emg is pretty similar in every wood, but the mahogany is nice, the one i have weights a decent amount but its so nice.

i didnt put em in. shit the guitar is still on backorder. theyre not any harder to install in an s7320 than any other 7. the issue with 7 string emg's is you have to route the pickup cavity a bit, as they are a bit larger. you can get emg 707hz pickups, which are passive, without batteries, and have dongtastic tone. not recommended. get the actives, i would go for either an 81-7/707, a 707/707, a 707/60-7, or a 81-7/60-7. i personally prefer the latter two.
Duncan has started making the blackouts for 7 string, although im unsure which ones. they have phase I, which fits a standard 7 string pickup route, or phase II which fits the enlarged emg route. Im sure someone else can help with that. clearly, if you get an s7420 or s7320, and choose blackouts, get the phase I so you dont have to route out the guitar. in 6 string pickups however, i prefer the emgs over the blackouts. I really liked sakeido recording of his S7320 with the Lundgren M7 in the bridge. I was seriously considering the 707 myself, but I'm so happy I went with the M7. It's insanely versital for a passive pup and it lets the tone of the wood shine through more. I think they sound amazing in mahogany, in fact I wanna get a mahogany 7 just so I can put that pup in it.

Ha HA!! Yeah a lot of people on here would say that was a stupid move to route that sucker. If it was in mint condition I would not have chopped it but it was bought as a backup and the pups that came in it sucked a fat one. Shit... the neck and headstock are in mint condition. I can always buy the S7420fm with the dots and swap em if I start losing sleep
