D'addario 10-59 set
Just picked one of these up from guitar center (orgasmic string set if you must know!
) I thought the 10-59's were changed to a 10-56 set. Thats exactly why I got the 10-59s, because the 56 felt like shit! Someone have info on this? PLEASE tell me they are still manufacturing this set, and didn't change!

Dude it's the other way around. It was 10-56 for years, then they changed it to 10-59. They should still be 10-59. I've used those packs a couple of times, they're okay. The 59 feels a lot better tension wise than the 56. That said I prefer the tone of the S.I.T. 10-58.
No worries

I actually just got a set of these, but haven't put them on....
I have those regular slinkys on right now, and I'm not really digging them to much.... the tension on the high feels a little stiffer than I like, and the low feels a pinch too floppy....

That's what I used to have on my RG. Tonight, I'll be changing to 9-42+54(All of which will be stainless steel.)

I use a hybrid set too 10 -46 and a 70 on the B. The B feels perfect, but everything else feels light. I might jump up to 11's. Can the neck of a 7321 handle that?

well 46 = 62, so obviously the 70 is gonna feel way tighter than everything else. If you want a nice and balanced set, try this: 10-13.5-17-26-36-49-66. with that, the tension gradually increases as you go down to the low B.

I prefer a similar tension overall, and I really love the tension of the 70. I'm fine right now, I've like the way the 10's feel. Thanks though.

Ah.
It must feel awkward as heck, though. I play in D Standard, just got a 7, so I have no clue what to put on the 7th string, I was just gonna get a standard EXL110-7. Maybe a single string, thinking 60. |

If you use a .070 and want a balance set use something like this.
.0105, .014, .018, .028, .038, .052, .070 |

Yeah, what Broderick uses, haha. I would, but on my C7FR...I think a standard 10's would be good for my springs.

I've also used a custom set recently that was 10-64 which was okay, S.I.T. makes a 10-58 set which is nice, the D'Addario 10-59 or 13-62 (obviously would add a high E in this scenario) could work. Since I love the tone of Elixir strings I just use 10-56 which isn't my 1st choice but its out of my control. |

I use the D'Addario 10-59 on my 1527 in Bb. Works great. I had them in A standard for a while, but they were a little too loose. B standard was a little too tight on the high strings. Bb is just perfect for me.

I've been using the .10 -.59 sets since they changed from .56's & I like em, they feel comfortable too. I've never had any problems at all & i tune Drop A & occasionally Drop G# with no trouble.

Every time a thread about string gauges come up I'm impressed by the wimpy strings people on this forum tend to use
I find there's a large group of people using light shreddy strings, then another large group of people using enormous chugchug strings, and not much in the middle. Interesting. anyway for the haters I grab a pack of D'addario LHTBs (10-52 or something) and tack a 70-ish on the bottom (depending on how big of a string is available at the time). chugchugshredshred. |

thats pretty much what i do. just get a 9-whatever the biggest E string you can get with a pack of 9's and add a .065 bass on the bottom. or a 64 if they have them. i've gone with a .068 in A.
