I think stained mahogany looks great!

Yeah Stained Mahogany does look pretty nice but since it's gonna be a custom I wanted something a little more special I dunno!

You could also have him put a veneer between the back and top. When the carve is done, you'll have a nice contrast between the woods.Like this bass

Yeah maybe it won't look too bad after all. I'm still waiting on him getting back to me with his ideas & the photoshop mock ups so i'll just wait for now.
