![]() ![]() ![]() | Strings again! coated? normal? gauges? brand? live? yea ok, this is about my custom RAN which is a 26.5" scale it came with a Daddario EXL110-7 set. thats 010-013-017-w026-w036-w046-w059 on my RG7620 (standard 25.5") I used to use Elixir 10-46 + a 68 fo the low B. ok, now the RAN actually feels pretty comfortable with the lighter B-string. I think it COULD use a little more tension, but not really a lot and to keep using a 59 would be ok BUT: I used to use Daddarios on my 7620 until I tried a set of Elixir and kinda fell in love with those. they sound good, last AGES without loosing their sound and they keep their tuning quite a bit better, too. so I would like to go back to using something like that. problem is: Elixir have a huge gap in their gauges! they make the usual stuff up to 56 and then, the only heavier string they make is the 68 I have on my Ibanez. now I'd like to get something around 60, lets say 59-64 maybe. is there any other manufacturer that makes strings similar to Elixirs and has gauges like that? or should I just use the 10-68? or any other suggestions? I really dont want to go down to a 56, that would feel too light (tensionwise) to me if I went the 10-68 road I'd most probably have to put in another trem-spring, too since even with the 10-59 the screws that hold the claw are almost all the way in already (with 3 springs) |
