Wikipedia 7 String Entry

The entry for "7 string guitar" on Wikipedia is *really* lacking:

Anyone want to submit new material? I think all you have to do is register as an author and submit. I was thinking about writing something up, but I don't think I'll have the time.

There's so much that could be added: the development of the 7-string electric with Vai and Ibanez, the 7-string boom of the late 90s, nu-metal, 7-string pickups, 7-string specific pedals, famous 7-string players, 7-string flops (e.g., Gibson), famous 7-string songs, and of course an external link to sevenstring.org.

It's really not lacking all that much, IMO.

Good overview. Ibanez 7s and Vai are not that big of a part of the pciture.

Just read it. Two notes. You have two and's in one part. I believe it says "and and Jeff Loomis". You also said "Korn" and "Linkin Park", when Linkin Park has never used 7-strings (they use six-strings in drop C, I believe). I think it would be more appropriate to leave the original: "Korn" and "Limp Bizkit" since they were the two primary 7-string nu metal bands in the mid to late 90's.

Other than that, pretty good. Still not "20 pages". Heh heh.

You sure? I could have sworn "With You" was a seven... Anyway, you can make changes yourself, too...

If you don't believe me, check out their music videos. Besides, Linkin Park didn't come out until what? 99? 2000? near the end of the 7-string nu metal fad. Even if just one song by Linkin Park is on a seven, almost all their other stuff is on sixes. They need to be replaced by "Limp Bizkit" which is much more representative of rap-metal nu metal stuff of the 7-string nu metal fad.

The problem with LB is they VERY quickly moved away from 7's, and Borland plays, what, 4's these days?

Anyway, changed... but, like I said, you can make changes too.

Another problem with this is that you wrote "Capitalizing on the massive low end produced by the low B string, these bands fused traditional metal stylings with rap influences." right after using "Korn" and "Limp Bizkit" as the example for these bands when Korn plays/played in ADGCFAD and Limp Bizkit played in C#F#BEG#C#C#.

Heh heh. Sorry to keep bothering you. I know I can make changes, but I feel uncomfortable about changing something that someone else wrote.

Hate to be picky, and i changed it on the old entry.. Jeff Loomis didnt pick up a 7 in the early 90s.. he didnt even touch one till roughly 1999-2000ish. Prior to that he used JPM guitars...

That was in the original, HB'er, and I didn't know enough to feel confident changing that - good catch.

Maybe move the reference to the section where 7's are making a resurgence, and mention Nevermore as a prime example?

I guess Morbid Angel would be a good replacement for them in the section where they're currently mentioned...?

Linkin Park (Specifically, Brad Delson) did use 7-strings...

Indeed. Morbid Angel Released covenant in 1993, featuring 7 string songs such as "World Of Shit(The Promised Land)" & "God of Emptiness".
