Dude - you were changing your mind way to many times as reflected on the many threads on this guitar. I really want this guitar to be made and the longer we dilly-dally over the specs the longer it takes and the higher the price can get due to all the other options.
No hard feelings - its just that I felt progress on this guitar would held back should we all try to get our dream guitar with this. |

look, i would be totally happy with a Septor/ Interceptor with a 27" scale. Xtremevillan, i know you were the one to get this ball rolling, and i do appreciate your efforts
, but some of the posts i've read from you in this thread are just about YOUR custom agile, if that's what you wanted, why bother getting us involved?i'd love to see a limited run of these guitars, and maple is my f/b of choice, but i don't think we should deviate too far from the original model. so, some realistic specs : Interceptor pro 27" bolt on maple neck w/ basswood body OR neck thru maple/ mahogany (i could go either way on this, they both sound great) EBONY board w/ no inlays PASSIVE! pickups (hell i'll take a guitar with two gaping holes in it where pickups should be instead of EMGs) 1 vol. 1 tone. now we just have to decide which finish. tribal purple and green seem to be favorites. |

Ok, I'm gonna chime in now.
Up to this point I have never HEARD of a Septor 7-27 Pro EMG, I mean Kurt hinted that it was "maybe" it was in the works, but I seemed to have missed some kind of official notice, it's possible to be sure.
Anyway here are my thoughts on the subject: Whenever a manufacturer (or maker or reseller or whatever word you want to use) comes to us I try to keep one thing in mind, how can I make this win/win for both, ie., how can get what I want and at the same time be reasonably sure that whoever is offering can make a profit ('cuz, as nice as their being to us, if he/she/it doesn't make a profit, it won't happen again). Body: since we already have Interceptor Pro (with a Mahogony body), it doesn't make sense to use a different wood for the Septor (unless you plan on using the wood for both). Besides, being an extended scale I think it will work with the Mahogany nicely anyway. Neck: since the word "Pro" is in the name I'm assuming that (like the other "Pro") this will be neckthru, having said that I have no issues with either Maple or Ebony, since they both have similiar tonal properties anyway. Really, whatever is cheaper and more profitable for Kurt I'm willing to go with. If the choice was between say, rosewood and ebony, then yeah rosewood would lose, but when people choose ebony over maple IT ALMOST ALWAYS BECAUSE TO THAT PERSON IT 'LOOKS' BETTER (raises hand in guilt). Actually, I'm going to throw down the gauntlet and just say Maple for the fretboard, its cheaper and I've never owned one. Perhaps the savings can be applied to a bigger fret (hint, hint, hint). Frets: 24. Unless Kurt decides tomorrow to makes the entire 'ceptor series 27. Really, the only REAL request I have here, is just the use of 6100. Very few on this board will disagree with me here, as that size, shape and feel and that frets is just superior to size the 'ceptor series has been using up to this point. Bridge: The standard TOM is fine (just like the Septor 6), just make sure the bridge height is not ridiculous (like on the Carpenter, the COW, and Hellraiser), match the feel of the Interceptor and you'll be fine. This should be easy to do anyway, since from a manufacturing standpoint the Septor Pro will probably just be a modifed Inteceptor Pro (again to keep cost down). Electronics: If at all possible, wait for the passive sized active Blackout 7's. I'm hoping Duncan wiill have some kind of introuductory pricing for manufacturers (no clue how this works so feel free to correct me), it solves your passive versus active size problem (for players that want passives), and I believe it will generate more sales (from gear whores who want the newest stuff = most of this board ).Anyway, I hope this helps. Personally, if this was realeased tomorrow, I'd buy it in heartbeat. I love love love my supermodels, but for recording, nothing beats the 27" scale IMO. |

Cancer, Kurt flat out said he'd do a run of eight guitars with 27" scale, fixed bridge, neck through, blank ebony board, and EMGs because that's what Xtremevillan asked for and a lot of people chimed in that they'd like one too.
Then as usual on here everyone started chiming in with changes, including the guy that originally started the whole thing. Honestly I'm amazed Kurt is even willing to talk to people on here.

It's true, I wanted some changes.
Eh, maple...dream. but some of the posts i've read from you in this thread are just about YOUR custom agile, if that's what you wanted, why bother getting us involved? Kinda what it started out with, then people said they wanted it, remember? But I do agree as a whole, whatever the outcome. I hope Kurt sees this topic and looks at the poll with consideration. |

That's awesome! I just need to know the when and how much, and I'll be ready to go.
EDIT: It doesn't look like I'll be able to afford one any time soon, so everyone should just discredit my opinion D: |
