Look whose talking...

Anyway, having extensively played both the 7620 and the 1527 I have to say that it's a VERY close call. As you already know, the 7620 has the lo-pro which I am partial to so, in my case, that's it for me. The 1527 is still an extremely solid guitar in terms of construction and plays amazingly. The stock pickups are, of course, beyond terrible and much, much worse than the stock New7s in the 7620s. The bubinga stripes on the 1527 are always a plus as well. And, as djpharoa mentioned... that prestige case is . As for the used 7620s being 1/3 the price of the 1527, I'd like to know where so I could pick five or so up. A new 1527 is ~ $900 out the door. I haven't seen a 7620 end for less than ~ $500 in a while now, which is getting pretty close to the amount used 1527s are selling for. They are equal caliber in terms of quality so I guess that makes sense.

I will say that the 5 piece neck on the 1527 is dead sexy. However for a "prestige" model, I would have liked it to have Dimarzios and fully bound. Not shit ass pickups. They could do that since the cost of one is $899 new and thats above the dimarzio price line.

Prestige models made in Korea are the S, SZ, and SA, and basses. They started Korean production on them in 2005.

Close inspection showed the SZ to be below typical Prestige standard in fret finishing, but, the SA was excellent, again proving, it all comes down to the hands that do the work. Also noted was that ALL Prestige line bass guitars have moved to Korean production as was expected.

What? Everything I said was well informed. You may disagree with my opinions, but I didn't say anything factually incorrect (which Stitch did in saying that the RG1527 is made in Korea and the RG7620 is made in Japan when in reality both guitars are made in Japan). Anyway, I personally prefer the RG1527 over the RG7620, but they are both very good guitars.

You are completely correct about the pickups. The neck pickup on the RG1527 isn't bad at all, but the bridge pickup is horrible. I think the 7620's pickups are pretty horrible as well. I don't think you could really expect to use the stock pickups on either guitar and expect to get a good tone.

I don't really think you could go wrong with either guitar. I was just saying my reasons for preferring the 1527.

Actually, you haven't given a single reason why you prefer the 1527 over the 7620 besides the one you just said about your preferance over the stock pickups. So what were the reasons again?

Did I say anything about the stock pickups other than that they suck?

Anyway, I guess my main reason would be that I prefer the neck profile on the RG1527. I really can't tell much of a difference between the tremolos on both, even though they have different Ibanez trem systems and the stock pickups on both guitars suck quite a bit. The body shape is pretty much the same as well. As far as looks, I really like the 5-piece neck on the RG1527. I just think it looks cool. And I also really like how the RG1527 comes in galaxy black (at least it did. According to the Ibanez site, they don't make them in galaxy black anymore).

Not really any significant differences between the two guitars. They're probably the two most similar of Ibanez's RG series. So, my preferance for the RG1527 isn't a "the 1527 is SO much better" type of thing, but more of a "I kinda prefer the 1527" kinda thing.

Yea very similar for sure...

I guess for me I like the maple/bubinga neck of the 1527 better than maple of the 7620 and the lo-pro of the 7620 better than the edge-pro of the 1527...

And I hate that Vampire Kiss color with a passion
