Help with my carvin choice?
Ive really decided that I want to go with a Carvin and heres my specs.
DC727 With floyd rose Gold Hardware Locking Nut Dunlop strap locks Active pickups Jumbo Frets No Inlays on a rosewood fretboard Black painted headstock Jet black Color 1218.99 And on wood options I chose Mahogany Body and Neck. If I didnt choose that, what wood would the body and neck be? And do the carvins have set necks? All in all would you think this would be a good setup? Any suggestions. |

Yes Carvin have set necks...
That seems like a good setup but I'd opt for a Maple Neck and fretboard... IMO this combination with a Mahogany body is perfect!
Up the shut fuck, you must.

Do you think the playability would rival the ibanez wizard neck?
And how is the high fret acess? Its either this or a Ibanez s series 7 but i think i would like the carvin more. I Just really need to know how these things play. And how long does it usually take them to make and send the guitar out. Thanks!! |

okay, that carvin DOES NOT have a set neck.
all of the DC series guitars are neck through. if you did not get the mahogany neck/body combo the woods would be a maple neck and alder body sides. it takes 4-8 weeks for them to build and deliver your guitar, but that time varies with the type of guitar you order. with the rather simple guitar you plan on ordering, it would probably take less time. carvins play amazing. you can not buy a better playing guitar in that price range. the carvin is absolutely a better choice than the ibanez s series. however, its rather pointless to get the active pickups, because carvins pickups are not very good. you're better off skipping on the active pickups and throwing in some after-market pickups when you get it. i've owned four carvins to date, and i have loved every single one of them. if you bought a guitar of carvin quality from a big-name manufacturer, it would probably cost about $3K. they're that good. go with the carvin.
I'm typing this on my knees with my butt in the air. -Drew
