If you really want to know what i'd do, i'd buy a pack of 10-52's for your first 6 strings and a .065 or bass string (or a guitar string, if they have them, they're usually a bit cheaper if its a guitar string -- Bass strings are easier to actually FIND in the 64-66 range, cause no one besides 7 stringers usually use anything bigger than 52-54). Most guitar stores only stock guitar strings up to around 56 or so, in my experience. ![]() | Isn't the general rule though to go up a gauge every half step down you tune to keep the same feel of what you would normally use? so .010's would feel like .008's tuned down a whole step. I think I would use .011's for a whole step down in A standard. ![]() |
