If you want to keep the tension about the same just make the low and E and B strings a bit heavier. So use a .046 or .048 for the low D and .064 or .066 for the low A. Though GHS Boomers do not come in .064 or
.066 gauges. So you might have to use another brand or score a .065 bass string.

Yeah, i bought a pack of DR 9-42's and used a 46 for the D and a bass 65 for the A. I used EB for those low two strings.

you could use a .065 guage bass string.

Glory and praise to Thee, Satan, on high,
Where Thou didst reign, in Hell where Thou dost lie,
Vanquished, silent, dreaming eternally.
Grant that my soul some day rest close to Thee
Under the Tree of Knowledge which shall spread
Its branches like a Temple overhead.

QFT I use Blue Steel Custom Lights(9-46(56 on 7))on all my guitars and they work great for drop D and standard. I have my indo-nez RG3EXQM1 tuned to drop D now as a matter of fact.

well, The bass string is tuned down a whole step to A, and i had a 58 on there before, so it really doesn't affect the setup that much.

All of the string gauges are (on my guitar at least)
7A-.065
6D-.046
5A-.032
4D-.024
3G-.016
2B-.011
1e-.009

haha, I use the ZW "bridge wires" set from GHS (11 -70) + a string from Harley benton "el cheapo" set ( 26 ) as the 4th string. This is on ADGCFAD (1 step down). I hate loose strings, so a 65 is as thin as I would go on the thickest string.

(Yes I have a bass too )

Personally I use an Elixir Light-Heavy 6 set plus a 68 for the low B. This gives a set of 10-13-17-32-42-52-68.
