Fixed. The original statement from Steve is also correct, the Road King is a HUGE part of John's tone. Get a Mesa, practice it up and you'll get close.

90% of tone come from the hands.

So if you want good Petrucci tone, you'd have to cut his hands off and surgically reattach them to your arms.

But as stated above, any decent 7 with a D-Sonic in the bridge and an Air Norton in the neck is a pretty good match.

You shake your ass but you're already dead.

In the recent issue of Guitar Player he tells his amp settings so that w/ the mesa would get you close.

thereisnospoon1 is on a distinguished road
thanks guys.

I tried the 7321 again but I still think the neck is a little too thin for me. Has anyone tried the SC207 or have any experience with ESP/LTD 7 strings? Is the neck comparable to a Schecter neck? I really liked the feel of the 7 string Hellraiser when I tried it.

not that this is REALLY relevant to the thread... but there were 3 songs in C (As I Am, In the Name of God, Honor Thy Father), one song in D (Endless Sacrifice), and one song in flat (Stream of Consciousness) on 6's. Then one song on a 7 in standard (This Dying Soul).

and that album is God's album. He made it... With dream theater.
