![]() | Need a full blown LOOMIS comparison Ok, im contemplating getting a loomis. Comes stock with a high end trem, 707s, and looks pretty good. the question is, this has to be my guitar for a while. i do not use trems, but enjoy the locking feature, stringing them is not worth the use of them, to me. so i would be blocking the trem with a tremol-no. but build quality, how does it stack up to other 7s, or other companies in general, for example, ESP stuff? i need a review/comparison/convincing!!!! killkillkillkillkillkillkillkillkillkillkillkillki llkillkillkillkillkillkillkillkillkillkillkillkill killkillkillkillkillkillkillkillkillkillkillkillki llkillkillkill |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | well if your not a trem guy it makes little sense to invest in a guitar that has one of the highest quality trems out there. Id sugest checking out some of schecters other guitars with string through features. They kick some serious ass and won't cost you as much. Ibanez is my choice because I like the thinner necks for a 7string. It is just easier for me to play. I've never been a fan of esp's 7-strings but that is just me. I'm sure other members here will rave about them. I'd go with Schecter or Ibanez. Every shecter I have played has had tremendous quality for the buck. What suprised me most is that most of them are korean if I'm not mistaken. The quality is jaw dropping to say the least. I love the blackjack 7. The hellraiser 7 is a good choice as well. I'd for those because I think you can get them both with emgs but no trem. Which sounds like it would suit you better. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I am not a trem user at all but I have to have floyds on my guitars just for the comfort factor - nothing else feels right to me. I'd look at the RG7's from Ikebe Gakki personally, like the RG7EXFX/RG7EX2FX and the HRG series. ![]() |

![]() | thanks for the replys, but i might go for a trem, cuz i can block it w/tremol-no, and because it locks the string into tune, which is awesome. and for the record, it CAN NOT be basswood. awful sounding wood, imo. |

The door swings both ways, we could reverse the particle flow through the gate. We'll cross the streams. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I love my Loomis. It is made every but as well as my RG7620 was if not better. As for ESP I have never had one of their sevens but I actually returned an LTD Alexi-600 in exchange for the Loomis. The ESP was $150 more and the Schecter is built better. |

I hate hearing people say this all the time. Granted i said it when i first started using Ibanez, but now i stand to disagree. Basswood is a perfect in between wood. Your standard Joe likes either Fenders or Gibsons (speaking metaphorically cuz those are the two most popular guitar companies). Fenders are generally made from Alder (a bright sounding wood) and Gibsons are generally made from Mahogany (a warm sounding wood). Basswood falls right between the two giving you enough bite to have a nice sounding bright tone if you want, but also warm enough to perform some soft leads and great cleans. So i conclude in my way of thinking that Ibanez really hit gold when they found basswood, because it will please the most general of audiences and users. Me personally, the tone that comes from my RG1077XL (basswood 27" scale) with an EMG81-7 in the bridge just is my dream tone ( i also have found to like the 707 in basswood as well, different tonal character) . Sorry just my two cents.... Looking for an Ibanez RG970XL | |
