I dunno, they've got some cool new options lately, like the RG8, Xiphos, S7...all because of Ibanez endorsers input (Meshuggah/Dino for RG8, Unearth for S7, etc.).

I guess you're right. This year may be a turning point. We'll see if they stick with it, or drop them all at the first sign of shaky sales.

LEWY7777777 is a jewel in the rough
Ibanez LACS Rant.

Just a little jealous, you might think to yourself...dang, I wish LACS was open to me...But then realize Ibanez just said HEY! &*$# YOU america! HAHAHAa!
Whilst they stick it to us. We continue to reward the entire import warfront for it by buying import cars import guitars import toys ...look on your shirt tag it says 'hecho in mexico' or thailand or china or tawain or japan. Shoot my RG7321 golden sticker said 'taiwan' wonder why you don't make enough money? We are making it worse. Why don't you see big guitar companies in america with huge assembly lines with us working for them at a job that is fun and cool. Nope won't happen. LOL But DANG, that crap sure was cheap though....NOPE . Tricked into thinking it is...I realize that 370 dollar RG7321 was more than my take home pay for a week thats for certain.imagine 40+ hours for the cheapest good usable 7 string guitar. No food for that week. And if you think about getting by in america i.e. home, car, job, life, wife, family, etc. dont your blood vessels in your brain will fart! But smile America! Hey I don't mean to be a dick but oops oh well here we go America! Hey are we so far ahead of the rest of the world ..we are ready to have a woman president ? Will missiles be shaped differently?Open up and say aahhh America ,ahhh the sun aahhh. Dennis Miller would love to be announcing this!

Hey Jeff. Just outa curiosity, do you have a degree in business or marketing? Because I'm fairly certain a company as large as Ibanez has at least a handful of people working for them that do, just as any other large business of any kind would. From what i've seen, Ibanez is a brand that has grown to be one of the big names in an industry that's had two big names for a long time. Maybe they're not up there with Fender or Gibson as far as recognition and popularity, but I think they get honorable mention at this point. Companies don't achieve that kind of success by not knowing exactly what they're doing. We can cry and moan all we like, but they're going to continue making money through methods that have been proven to them over the years. It sucks that those methods aren't what we want, but there's nothing you can do. Unless you got a petition of several thousand potential customers (not sure exactly how large their target market really is) to suggest they start offering an alternative 7-string.

*sigh* Big companies are big companies. There are some that are slightly less heartless than others... But it's a capitalist world out there and, unfortunately, that's all anyone sees at the end of the day. Personally I'd look to get endorsed by ibanez if i started playing in a serious band. There's a couple ideas i'd like to bounce of the LACS. SZ7 sounds pretty sweet to me.

anybody think it's possible the lack of inspired 7's in the new model year has been to push some of the market more towards the 2228? That's what i was thinking about.

Since we're hopelessly off-topic anyways, I'd just like to add the red COW I got is fucking awesome. I'm glad no one bought it and I ended up deciding to keep it. One odd thing was that it weighs half as much as the black model my bandmate has, kind of cool. Anyone looking for an alternative to the usual basswood/rosewood schtick, I'd recommend picking that up. Best value ever IMO.

Dave, is Rob taking orders still? I wouldn't mind trying another one from him, seems like his work has been really good lately.

^ my Silverburst is just a better instrument then the black COWs I had. The action is way lower with less buzzing, the frets are even better, and I noticed it is a bit lighter too.

Whether or not I have a business or marketing degree is irrelevant for a few reasons:

1. I have spent thousands of dollars on Ibanez guitars. Therefore i am quite entitled to an opinion.
2. never assume the marketing dept infallible.
3. While I do not have a marketing degree, I do fully understand Ibanez's business intentions, of which have always been clear. Make the most money possible, even at the risk of integrity. They've done a great job at that.

I can't do anything about it? Sure I can. I won't be buying any more Ibanez guitars. I am one person. But perhaps I am not the only one, and eventually that can add up.

Maybe I'm a minority, and always will be. I don't really care in the end, because there's plenty of great choices out there now anyway.

My main point that I have a problem with Ibanez is that unlike Schecter or Jackson, their endorsers don't play anything remotely close to what they sell. I find it sad and funny at the same time.

Never played a black COW, but my silverburst got here today and it's pretty damn sweet. I do have to say I am AMAZED at how light this thing is... it's a feather-weight compared to the 2027 or even the S7420 I just sold.

Back on topic, yeah that Ankla LACS is pretty sweet, but my KxK is cooler
