That is a pretty damn thick neck for an Ibby. I bet it makes a nice change though, and I bet it plays and sounds awesome.

I still think it would look better with a matching headstock though!

You know... all these guys in major-label bands already have their Blackout 7's! C'mon SD, bring those puppies out already!!!

I liked the look of his LACS that Nikt owns currently, myself. Although I like that his Ibanez 7 doesn't have a paper thin neck!

that one is nice too.
I don't get Ibanez's ideoloogy concerning these "one -offs" that they are building for their endorsees.
In the last week I have seen at least 3 LACS 7 strings come out of their
shop that I would probably buy , and I'm not much of an Ibanez fan.
this one , the latest Dave Weiner , and the one Buzz just posted pics of, all
look like they'd be right up my alley (I like the looks of the thicker neck on
this one a lot).
I just don't get it

Can I be the devil on your shoulder?

Ibanez,

Please in the near future take all marketing cues from your endorsers. What they ask you to make you should turn into production models. We will buy lots of Chris Broderick and Dave Weiner models. I promise.

I do. If you offer most of these guys a production model guitar, then they aren't going to play Ibanez. If you build them exactly what they want, then they will play it, no matter what it says on the headstock, and their fans will buy Ibanez.

I bet everyone bitching about it owns an Ibanez. So, you're not in a very good position to protest, since Ibanez already sold you on the brand. Essentially, Ibanez is at the point where they are selling more than enough guitars, precluding them from taking the calculated risk of offering an entirely new model with the hope of attracting new players to the brand.

No, we won't, and that is the problem. You just named to less well known guys who play a guitar aimed at a niche market. Why sell a handful of guitars to a few seven stringers, when you can sell a truckload of RG's with an ugly SEVEN inlay to a bunch of 14yo Slipknot fans?

But if they built seven strings that weren't all basswood and rosewood I'd be willing to bet they might sell some more. Or so I hope. Hell they'd be the only currently in production Ibanez sevens I'd want.
