Looks like I'll get to play it again. It's a pretty cool guitar, no doubt.

I think it's hilarious that it's gone from Japan to VA to Jersey and back to VA, all courtesy of the JCF.

that looks awesome! how is that different from a soloist? forgive me as im just beginning to dive into jacksons and barely know the difference between a soloist and a dinky.

A Dinky is a bolt-on, a Soloist is a neck-thru, bascially. They're both based on the same body, it's just a construction difference.

It is a Soloist. Jackson Stars are MIJ, for the Japanese market only. This one somehow found it's way over here, via a very cool person on JCF living in Japan.

We've been trying to figure out if it was a limited run, or if it's a Jackson Stars "semi-custom" guitar. I never did find out what the conclusion was, but it's the only one I've ever seen.

Wayne told me he was thinking of doing some mods to it, but I guess he changed his mind. I'm glad you got that one--it's a nice guitar and will make a good backup to your KXK. Thing's got some killer action on it and will get downright brutal with that EMG 81/7 in it.

I got that originally through a JCFer who was studying in Japan for a year--he found it used and hanging on the wall at an Ikkebe store in the Akihabara district in Tokyo(?), and he, being a nice guy, agreed to grab it for me, since that particular store wouldn't ship internationally. The consensus seems to be that it was a limited run made for Ikkebe, rather than a custom or semi-custom, but I don't know for sure. Most of the semi-customs apparently have real MOP inlays and features more like a USA Jackson, whereas this one is more like a 7-string version of an SL3. Either way, it's pretty damned unique.

It's funny how these things seem to get passed around between just a few of us 7-string guys, huh?
