Damaged 7321

I sold my 7321 on ebay about a month ago. I brought it to UPS, they packaged it and shipped it. When the buyer got it, it looked like it had been dropped really hard. The bottom of the body has a big chip out of it.

My question it, how much would it cost to either 1) repair the damage or 2) get an entire new body to put on. I would need labor costs and all that too..

I called the local Ibanez dealer, but they said Ibanez doesnt sell the bodies or necks. So if anyone has been through getting theirs repaired, let me know what to expect.

Well, if you insured the package with UPS, he should call them up and file a claim, and just buy a new guitar or something.

I THINK You can contact ibanez directly about that kind of thing, check with them first. Otherwise, there's a lot of custom builders that can get you a new body, but it'd probably be more than the price of the 7321 itself.

Glory and praise to Thee, Satan, on high,
Where Thou didst reign, in Hell where Thou dost lie,
Vanquished, silent, dreaming eternally.
Grant that my soul some day rest close to Thee
Under the Tree of Knowledge which shall spread
Its branches like a Temple overhead.

How's the rest of the guitar? I've been kind of thinking of grabbing a 7321 and having a replacement body made up, if you can't claim through UPS...

The guitar was insured for $400, and I have already filed a claim. What they are wanting is a price to actually fix it to see if it will be cheaper to fix or buy a new one.

As far as the guitar itself, it plays fine. The chip isnt bad enough to affect playability.

*cringes* OUCH! ...Fucking UPS...

I think at this point you'd probably have to get the whole thing painted, instead of trying to repair and repaint that one spot. Are there and luthiers or repair shops you can have look at it? That'd be your best bet.

You shake your ass but you're already dead.

Wow. Actually, it doesn't seem all that bad as i've seen worse. I had some nasty ones on my white 7620 before I had it sent to Donnie to have it refinished.

Take it to your local guitar shop/repairer and ask for a quote, perhaps explaining why you are doing it. Also, if you want a new one, suggest to them that a 'generously' high estimate would be useful. most will be too happy oblige.

Check out my thread on UPS guy throwing a box. Thats why UPS never gets my guitar business.

Best bet is to get the body repainted - try a automotive body shop. Some are happy to repaint guitars.
