7th string gauge: which do you use?

Hello to all of you! I'm Pesso from Italy, it's my first time here! I come from petrucciforum.com
I've just bought an used 7-string, it's a RG2027XVV with piezo, here's a pic:

My question is: which gauge do you use for your low B? I'm experimenting with a 056: I put on a hybrid set (009-046) and added a 056 for the low B.
I want a tight low B, not flabby (the 052 I had on was too floppy, it buzzed over the frets)

You're a lucky guy. The 7 string Ibanez with peizo's is a rare axe here.

I use EB 10's and sub the 52 for 58...60 seems like too much..

I used to own one of those- a beautiful, beautiful guitar you've got there, man. Wasn't 100% sold on the tone of mahogany, but I think it was just a question of experimenting with different pickups; the air Norton/Tone Zone set that I'd had in my 7620 just didn't cut it in mahogany, but the Evo7 I stuck in the bridge was amazing later on, and almost convinced me to keep the guitar (i ended up selling it for a new amp). A more scooped neck pickup, perhaps a Blaze7, and it could have been a keeper. and that's an amazing neck, it felt incredible. But, i just wasn't using the peizo, and having the bridge electrically wired to the guitar was a little inconveniant when it came to popping the bridge off for quick tweaks, so...

I personally feel that a .58 is aout perfect for a low B in standard. .56 isn't bad, but just slightly to light, imo. Lately, I've been playing a GHS hybrid 7-string set, 10-52 with a .60 low B, and if you like the heavier high strings it balances pretty well, IMO.

Anyway, enjoy that guitar!

Shiz.....all you guys use metal rope for your 7th string, I use a wimpy 52. I experimented with gauges 54 & 56 for the low B but with the regular 9-42's I use the 52 felt the best for me so that's what I stuck with.

Catch ya's later........Joe

I like the 56's best, but the D'Addario packs only come with the 54's, so that's what I use.

Glory and praise to Thee, Satan, on high,
Where Thou didst reign, in Hell where Thou dost lie,
Vanquished, silent, dreaming eternally.
Grant that my soul some day rest close to Thee
Under the Tree of Knowledge which shall spread
Its branches like a Temple overhead.
