Great guitars, bad knob placement

Keep the silverburst, add a neck pickup (make them non-EMG routed, of course ) and NOW we're talking! They do look cool though, I dig both but I don't like the look of the neck heels on those COW models.... just doesn't seem "right" to me. Are the boards ebony?

They are ebony. I really like the COW actually - the only reason I didnt buy one in Japan was the neck. Painted necks FTL to me. I hate being so pernickety lol.

Oh cool, yeah ebony boards on 7s are awesome! Couldn't you just sand and tung oil finish the neck?

The painted neck is fine. Its smooth as ice. Seriously the COW is a pretty flawless guitar for the money. High quality stuff all-around. As a previous poster said, the neck heel is not an issue, plays perfectly. The knob placement looks odd but it's just fine.

Every time I pick up my bandmate's COW it's a pure joy to play. I can't wait for the silverburst to come out.

i totally agree with the flawlessness. They are great guitars.

Nick - I wasn't being a backseat whinger and saying that from the specs - I couldnt get on with it when I tried it, but I have very sweaty hands so I noticed it. To many less-perspiring people it may be a guitar of dreams

Ah okay. Well as someone said, you could always sand it down and tung oil it or something.

I think they would end up selling more of them if it had a neck pickup though... seems like they're missing quite a few potential buyers (myself included, honestly) because it's lacking a neck pickup, and I NEED a neck pickup! That silverburst... mmm... I LOVE it on the LP and it looks great on the COW. Might have to try one of these out if I can get ahold of one since I'm sevenless at the moment....

Haha. it isn't worth it to me. I want an S7420FM and a Double Edge Pro-equipped seven and that is it for me.

The COW doesnt have enough features to make it worth the extra effort of finishing the neck, awesome or no.

I like the look of no neck pickup a lot, but practically I miss it too. My Rico Jr Custom only has a bridge pickup too so I'm used to it. That said, I'd rather have no pickup so you can install one later yourself, than have one in a shitty place like the Stephen Carpenter models. The ESP SC models are so amazing, but that middle pickup is just so useless. If the B7 model had a neck pickup instead of a middle, I probably would have found a way to get one of those by now.
