![]() ![]() ![]() | EMG 707 vs. 81-7? Just want to know the difference of the two pickups. I am getting a Schecter Loomis which comes with dual 707's. I know the 81/7 is basically the 7 string equivalant of the 81 and the 707 is the equavilant of the 85. Would swapping the bridge pickup to an 81/7 in the Loomis be worth it? Jeff gets some pretty kickass sounds out of the 707's as does Rusty Cooley. Although Rusty said he wants to try out the 81/7's. Opinions please. Thanks. |

![]() | The 707 isn't a 85-7. It's a mix between 85's bottom end and 81's high end. The result is damn nice, IMO. If you already have a bassy guitar, maybe the 81-7 would be better. Otherwise, stick with it! Nevermore's This Godless Endeavor is 100% EMG 707 and it totally kills. The 81-7 is a lot more dry and compressed souding. The Loomis signature with Ash body probably sounds damn nice! I own both of 'em. My 2 cents. No bullshit. Turd Ferguson |

![]() | the 707 is alot more bassy and it highlights the bottom end a bit more. the 81-7 has more treble to it and in my opinion alot more clear sounding. if your tone sounds too muddy then this pickup might be for you. |

![]() ![]() ![]() | Thanks guys. I guess the 707's are what I need then. With a maple fretboard and an ash body the extra bass of the 707's will probably be just what I need. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ^ even as an advocate of the 81 and now 81-7s, i agree with you. you have a very lightweight bodywood, which means its already got great high mids, and highs, so the 707 will help you even the playing field bringing some bass and lo-mids to the table. Looking for an Ibanez RG970XL |

![]() ![]() | +1 to 707's. Through the right amp, they sound just as good as the JPMM DiMarzio's. But shhhhh....don't tell the EB fanboys I said that!! ![]() |
