daniboy is a jewel in the rough
personally, i find bolt-ons have a punchier attack and a snappier response.

scale length, string gauge and wood should have more impact on note definition and tight low end imo.

all these are probably secondary when amps are factored in.

playability, comfort, badassness, neck-thru wins!

but I do think bolt ons have the punchier attack.

In my experience, neckthrus have much crisper note definition, but typically aren't quite as "punchy." All depends on the individual guitar, I guess. That note definition is the biggest reason I prefer neckthrus. They really do sound different.

I prefer the sound of a bolt-on personally. Not an Ibanez style bolt-on though, the bigass Fender boltons and the meaty EBMM JP7 style ones sound noticeably better. The bolt-ons seem to have a fuller low end and, as noted, punchier attack

I prefer a bolt on or set neck for crisp articulation, but I think it really comes down to the woods used in the key tone affecting areas and the bridge type/composition.

For lower tuned instruments, Ive noticed many bass players like bolt ons for a slap style which really needs crisp top end and articulation to be effective.
