Sorry for bumping an old thread, but I just realized a video of me was posted on here and I never noticed, haha. Nope, I sure as hell ain't no Vai, but that was just a couple riffs from my old band's first seven string song, haha. I no longer have that guitar, that amp, or hair that short ... weird watching it.

I have a 7321 and it rocks. I absolutely love the thing - as does anyone that has played it.
In standard form the pickups are the biggst problem - through a POD they're not too bad, but through an amp i found they sucked, undefined, wooly and lifeless. I switched mine for a Blaze bridge and Air Norton neck - incredible change. I don't need to tell you how good those pickups are, but they completely transformed the guitar. I also found the strings were too light to get a defined attack from the low B. I like light strings, but the tension was a bit shit. Mine is strung with 9-46 with a 56 for the B, and again, it sounds much better. I will eventually get a new nut and locking tuners for this guitar - just because it sounds so good, and plays like a dream, i feel it warrants a few more upgrades to make it perfect. I guess it depends on wether it plays nicely in your hands, some people hate the necks of 7321s, others like myself adore them. If it's the guitar for you, do a few mods and you'll have a great guitar. Didn't Broderick used to use one? I'm sure he said it wasn't as good as a 1527, but still good. EDIT: sorry, just noticed the dude above me bumped an old thread - sorry to re bump it! |

I got a 7321 and changed the tuners for Planet Waves auto-trim tuners after watching the low B tuner actually turn while playing. Next thing that will be changed are pickups (leaning towards a Blaze Bridge/Air Norton combo myself), and the guitar will be as close to perfect as it can get. The 7321 is already a great guitar with a great feeling neck, and you don't have to start modding it right away if you don't want to. For me, as my first 7-string, it's been my gateway drug. I tried a 1527 at Sam Ash yesterday, and I'll be heading down that road in the future, but for now and the future the 7321 will be one of my main guitars.
