JP7s with what you're adding on have always been quite a bit over 1400$.

Bass Central has a Pearl Redburst, non-matching headstock, dot inlays and no piezo on sale for $1499 and the fully loaded pearl redbursts are $2040... add mystic dream and you are withing spitting distance of $2300.

Cheers

I dunno then. When I talked to the guitar rep at the store that has an EBMM dealership thing deal, he told me $1400, so maybe I'm getting a deal.

Or maybe he didn't bother to look, as EBMM hiked the prices towards the end of last year... no way is the price you were given correct.

Well guys, I'm gonna go for the UV only because I got an amazing deal. I called the old guy up who gave me the JP price and told me he wanted $2000 now so I said forget it because I had talked to the owner of the music store I work for.

He said he'd give me a UV for $1700 and throw in extra strings, a cable, some Stubby (3mm tasty) picks and a Danelectro delay pedal he can't get rid of. So I said "HELL YES" all techno like Beck and put a payment on it. I'll pay the entire thing off soon but I got an effin good deal. Hellooooooooo, sexy Universe. I sense an Air Norton coming my way soon..

Having owned a UV777BK and played exclusively for about two years and now only owning and playing EBMM JP7's/BFR JP7's, I can only put it this way: it's not even a fair comparison.

It's not even a fight. The EBMM piece is so far ahead in build quality, tone, playability, materials, etc. The Ibanez doesn't even belong in the same class (even though they charge for it).

There's no contest, the EBMM owns the UV777BK (and every other Ibanez they make for that matter), of course, IMO.

I paid $1750 for my last JP7 through Bass Central.

(and I didn't have to change the pickups)

The ones in my UV777BK were lifeless horrible things, they got ripped the fuck out quick.

For the record, the Tone Zone 7 (bridge) and PAF 7 (neck) sounded really good in that guitar.

I owned a J Custom (RG7CT). Still no comparison, it really wasn't any nicer than the UV777BK, it just looked nicer. Same crappy electronics, fretwork and mediocre hardware.

Trust me, I was as big an Ibanez fanboi as anyone else for yeaaarrrs, mostly because there just weren't a lot of choices out there.

That's just not the case anymore, there's no reason to over pay for a second-rate product now.
