7620 Lo-Pro Trem Spring Question

This is more of a confirmation than anything, but in setting up my new-to-me 7620, I removed the strings the previous owner had on it, which felt like a relatively heavy gauge set. I am now installing a set of 9-42+54 (because thats all my local store had) and when I couldnt get the trem to level, I popped the back panel and checked the springs on the trem. There were 5. So I removed 2 (every other one obviously) and now it seems to level correctly. Going by the reference JEM photos on Jemsite, it looks like 3 springs is standard and the previous owner probably installed the extra ones to handle the heavier gauge strings.

So my question is: is 3 springs stock on the 7620? I will probably reinstall a heavier set on it in the near future and throw the other two springs back in, but I just want to be sure.

Thanks!

(For some reason when I hit the apostrophe key in Firefox it pops up the search or find dialog, hmmm - it does it with the slash too, so pardon any grammatical issues, i need to reboot)

yeah, 3 in straight formation is the stock setup from ibanez. you might want to just do a 3 spring arrow formation if you're going from something like 9s to 10s.

I use four. It doesn't matter how many. It's just however many it takes to balence the trem verses the overall stiffness of it's movement that is comfortable to you.
