Hey guys, I got three Ibby's with Edge trems and i want to know if anyone on here has done the 9volt battery trem stabilization trick and if so, some details please.
i.e - photos of the trem cavity with the batteries in it - number of 9 volts it takes - etc. etc. i like this idea of fixing my trems because it would give me a lot of extra weight in the body which i love ( i love back-breakingly heavy guitars ). so any help guys would be great. thanks Waldo Looking for an Ibanez RG970XL |

Umm usually I just stick one 9v underneath the trem (to stop it pulling up) then tighten the springs up. Pretty easy to undo too.

I've never found any of my trem cavities big enough to take a 9v without moving the trem out of parallel with the body. I use bits of wood to pack out between the trem block and the edges of the route.

Why would ANYONE want to use 9V batteries in the trem cavity?
![]() A battery is filled with acid. If it bursts or leaks, then you have corrosive acid pouring all over the inside of your guitar. Very bad idea. Only use batteries as batteries.

![]() Yea, I was thinking the same thing. Not a good Idea at all . Grab you a chunk of oak or whatever wood makes you feel manly, cut it and just tack it in the trem cavity... I wonder tonally which brand of batteries sound the best crammed in the trem cavity? JK |

You don't even need to glue them. Take your time to shape them properly and they'll stay in there by themselves.
