RG7620 trem tuning problems
I've had my RG7620 for about a year now, and like all Floyd Rose type trem guitars it has that problem of not going 100% back into tune after divebombs and other downwards trem usage. Not a problem on my RG550, I just give the bar a quick upwards pull and it goes back into tune. I just can't find the "tweak point" on my RG7620.
The trem's in good condition with mint knife edges, and I've had it professionally set up. It still sits slightly flat after I play with the bar. Trying the same trick as I use on the RG550 leaves the tuning slightly sharp instead. Anyone got any ideas? This is really starting to bug my now as it's meant that I don't use the trem anymore. |

i had the same problem on my RG7620 until i put chap stick on the knife edges of the trem. it's a type of lip moisturizer if you didn't know. i don't want to explain it so here:

You might want to replace the springs in the back of the guitar. The 7620 has the Ibanez Lo Pro Edge trem. It's arguably the best trem ever made. It's designed to always go back to the zero point, no questions. If it isn't doing that for you, something is definitely wrong with it.
Silly question time... 1) do you remember to lock down the pegs at the nut? 2) Have you set up the intonation on the guitar? 3) Do you stretch out your strings while putting them on the guitar? |

I'll give the chapstick idea a try first, then I'll change the springs if it doesn't 100% fix it. |

the chapstick / wax idea is probably a very good one. Lubrication can fix a lot of life's little problems

it has to specifically be chapstick. No one knows what the magic property is though ;p

Chapstick is the cheap bastard fix.
![]() Try a real lubricant for even better results. Graphite powder works well, but I prefer something with PTFE (Teflon-based). Both are available at any auto parts store. The $2 tube should last you years. -Apply it to both the knife edge and the cut out on the trem post. -Clear away an excess. -Rock the trem back and forth a few times. -Re-apply and clean excess. -String or spring it back up. -Check tuning and rock out! |

I'd look at the condidtion of the Trem posts. Give them a slight spin to give the knife edges a fresher contact point.
