Nothing wrong with holding the guitar high. "Cool" is only in the eye of the beholder. If you have a guitar that high, and you shred your ass off, no one is going to care how you hold it

Guitar looks about right to me . Is it as high as it goes? I my straps as far as they'll go and that ends up about right for me...

My Wayne Custom came with those locking straps, or whatever they're called, and I had to shove one of my kids plastic toy (a garbage can from his play set) into the stap to shorten it cause it's way too long. I tried buying a shorter one but they only had long ones...any idea if they come in different sizes?
