New Headstock shape
I'm always bitching about boring shapes. So, this is something a little more rad. It's a goat's head/Thor's hammer headstock. And it's mine. Keep your meathooks off.

Black magic.
No, uh, seriously... it's just a shape. I've got a buddy that could cut that out of a piece of wood, no problem. But I'm probably going to send it to a custom shop eventually and have them put it on my totally badass axe. The lines on the inside of the outer shape would have to be drawn in. I would probably put together something a little more elaborate to that end with the help of a friend of mine who's an artist. You know, it's a headstock... so it would be at the end of the neck opposite the body. ? ![]() |

i think we got that part. the question is, where would it be attached to the neck, and how would you do it so that it's comfortable to play in the low regions of the neck?

Not really my thing, but I could see it working. The lower point of thor's hammer (where the "La" of his name is) is around where i'd imagine it would attach to the top of the neck. The actual "point" could be incorporated into the inlay on the first fret possibly (?) or maybee the lower region of the headstock could be rectangular so that it meets the neck nicely (with the lower point being drawn on or carved out to complete the shape). Just a suggestion.

There's a couple of different options that I can immediately see. One is to lose some of the lower point. The other is to have a small section below the main shape. If I get bored enough, I might draw a "neck" on there.

probably would be helpful to try drawing some tuner holes on there to make sure it can even work in a reasonable fashion.

Not my thing either but it's a pretty cool design. Nicely done.
