Question About string tension on different brands

I'm getting a bit into bluesy stuff lately, and I'm finding the 010s on my Hellraiser a bit difficult to do those 2 tone bends (and I scare myself about breaking the string every time I throw one in). The thing is that I like the feel of the 010s, the 09s feel too much thin for my taste...

If I put 09s, will them break easily due to the added tension of the extended scale? Im a bit lost on this

So, in your experience, what brand of strings have less string tension or whatever, for not changing the gauge of the entire set? I'm currently using daddarios.

Thanks

From what I've played Ernie Ball Slinkies always feel the loosest to me. They also seem to go dead the quickest.

Dude, I use 9-58 on my baritone 7s and you can do crazy bends all day. I've never broken a string. Give it a shot. I like Elixirs, D'Addario and S.I.T. strings. DR are pretty good too.

Scallop the fretboard. This gives you the room to get next to the string for bends and will give you the extra leverage to keep the 10's. A shorter fret scale also helps. A 25" (PRS) scale or 24.75" (Gibson) will feel looser and allow for a greater frequency change with bends (higher note from the same bend distance). I use D'Addario .011-.049" on my six which is scalloped and it feels more like .010's, while retaining that fat tone. I used to have a 28.5" scale seven string and it was impossible to bend far on. Note change from string bending is directly related to scale length and tension. Tuning will also affect note change. Tune the guitar down a step and it will be easier to bend because of the lower tension. The lower the tension the greater the note change with the same distance string bend.

Here's a shot of the scalloped board on my guitar. You can see how much space you have for your fingers to get next to the string for string bends.

jsebek is new.
*mutters something about being endorsed by Curt Mangan strings and loving the tone of the .009-.052 7-string set*, I also prefer lighter strings and tune to standard B with my 7s. Obviously if you're tuning lower, you should consider a different/heavier set. They are also not the easiest strings to find, but they sound great and stay in tune quite well.

Thanks man, I'll try them. Dou you use the 09-042 or the 09-046 "hybrid" set?

I use on all my guitars Ernie Ball Super Slinky 9-52. It's my favourites

An I more play Jazz and Blues than metal.
