The neck isn't as thick as people make it out to be, it's not as thick as a LP or anything, but definately noticeably thicker than Ibanez. The thicker neck seems to feel your hand and make it a bit more comfortable. I would say any Ibby guys who dislike the Schecter necks haven't owned one and taken the appropriate time to adjust, because I have short pudgy fingers and I have absolutely no difficulty playing them.
thats a good comparison its also great that you actually own one, do you own the c-7 FR or the loomis signature? or which if i can ask? one of the biggest problems for me is that i wont be able to play it until i get it, i have basically no choice but to order online so theres no way for me to test drive any of these i was thinking of trying the jeff signature and if i dont like it taking the emg's and the floyd off and buying an ibanez style body. but that S7320 and the 7260 look pretty hott too. if you have the FR any word on how well that trem holds up?

Tourtex... as for which model UV... any of the original ones which include UV7PWH, UV7BK, UV77GR, and UV77MC (the latter two are impossible to find though).

There is a great condition UV7BK on the bay right now for 1k.
that sounds pretty descent i'll have a look definitally my only thing is that if im gonna end up spending in the neighborhood of 1700 or so im just going to get something crazy like the rusty cooley dean.

I own a 007 Elite, and a Schecter A-7 Elite for my Schecters. For Ibanez, I own an RG320, an RG7420, and an RG7CT. I also have an LTD M-307. I don't actually own a Schecter with a trem, but you seem more concerned with neck thickness so I thought I'd throw that out there.

Tourtex, good luck with the Universe. However, what type of stuff do you play? That determines what I'd recommend for you, and I've played just about every 7-string out there at one time or another.

well i play basically everything i like to think but, i play jazzy stuff and some country sounding licks when i am practicing theory i attempt fast rusty cooley stuff although its not always as good . i love heavy stuff soulfly nevermore and such, blues, yep, very versitile. also i havent 100% decided ont he universe although it definitally looks like it could be the winner. so feel free to further suggest other brands and guitars i still appreciate all input.

Atomic_gerbil is a jewel in the rough
I've owned a C-7 Hellraiser, and have played on many Ibanez 7's.

I hated my Hellraiser, and that was that. There was nothing I could have done to change it, it just wasnt playing like i wanted it too. Ironically, after I took my HR back to Guitar Center, I immediately picked up an RG7321. It played at or better than my HR did, and this was a shitty floor model with rusty strings and gummy knobs. I say Ibanez, for their awesome necks and unbeatable prices.

I'd say I'm an ibby fanboy for life, guys.

Welcome to the club.

I personally prefer the Ibanez necks so that would be my choice.

7StringofAblicK-This is my footswitch. it changes channels on my amp - just like on a television, but I only have four channels.
