Hello everyone, i am new to the forum as you can see,I play pretty much every genre from jazz to nevermore style metal. i would like to know if anyone has any advice on choosing a 7 string with a floating bridge and 24 frets, i have looked at alot of them and found a few that i am interested in, the only thing i am not sure about on the schecters is the neck is it much thicker than most? (currently have a Wasburn WG-587) and im not sure how well the tremelo on the c-7 FR will hold a tune i read the other review and it got a good review so im not as worried but still would be nice to know. I greatly appreciate any and all help. Thank you!!
Schecter Jeff Loomis signature Schecter C-7 FR Ibanez 7620 <pretty much extinct from what i see Any other guitars you reccomend i will definitally look at |

I am a diehard Ibanez fan but some on here will tell you different so there is your grain of salt...
In my opinion, Schecters are too bulky and heavy for me with too fat of necks. I love the really thin necks that Ibanez has to offer. Also, the Lo-pro7 bridge that comes on the 7620 is (once again in my opinion) the best bridge ever put on an electric guitar. There are quite a few 7620s on ebay at the moment. Specs of Ibanez 7's with trems can be found here - http://www.jemsite.com/ibanez/spec_ib7.htm . I would also recommend you look into the 1527 if you would like a new Ibanez instead of used but the IBZ pickups that come stock in them are beyond terrible. If you want to spend a little more coin, Universes (especially old models) just scream quality and come stock with lo-pros and Dimazio Blazes. I hope that helped. ![]() |

![]() i think that the right answer would be to follow what your ears says schecter seems to have a more woody tone which comes from the mahogany body, and have fatter neck ibanez ( that i love and play ) have a more " mid-cut " quality but in a good way, i like how their sound cut trought the mix and is very good both for metal and mellower styles ( i enjoy my ibanez even doing led zeppelin, but i'm in love )the best thing however is to try them and listen carefully! hope you find the right seven for you ![]()

i am definitally considering the ibanez 7620 i really dont like the 1527 because of the look and now the pickups have me worried i feel the same way about the neck on the hellraiser but thats the only schecter i've been able to play around here there is basically no guitar shops i've seen that have an extravigant selection its basically the minimum. the thing that scares me about the 7620's is since they were discontinued and only available on ebay its possible for them to be roughed up right? i will definitally check it out as i love to play fast and ibanez is whats been recommended the most, can you recomend some universes? or link me to some other stuff?. once again Greatly appreciating the help and speedy response!!!
yes i was going to get that one but it throws me off because it has 22 frets i know thats probably a stupid thing to be picky about but i dont want to step back on anything. is it possible to get it with a 24fret neck? Last edited by tourtex; 07-12-2007 at 03:58 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

Put it like this. Les paul or a fender strat? Because I have noticed that the schecter is the les paul of 7 strings, and the ibanez is the fender strat of 7s. I haven't played some of the high-mid range ibanez, but I love my schecter. Good pickups and good guitar. Good action, a little buzz (not horrible, but unless you set up the guitar for ubertruss releif), and its just a solid f**king guitar. I haven't played one, but from what I hear, agile is the best of both worlds. If you plan on tuning below B, other than drop A, then you will love the 27" scale.

well you can ask a luthier to build you a new neck with 24 frets, it'll even make it a baritone (28" 5/8 scale) I almost got that route but you know... money

I own both Schecters and Ibanez guitars. I learned on thin neck guitars, and I have tiny hands. Getting used to the Schecter took me about 10 minutes. Personally I prefer the Schecter guitars I own now, although my RG7CT is the shit. The neck isn't as thick as people make it out to be, it's not as thick as a LP or anything, but definately noticeably thicker than Ibanez. The thicker neck seems to feel your hand and make it a bit more comfortable. I would say any Ibby guys who dislike the Schecter necks haven't owned one and taken the appropriate time to adjust, because I have short pudgy fingers and I have absolutely no difficulty playing them.

Tourtex... as for which model UV... any of the original ones which include UV7PWH, UV7BK, UV77GR, and UV77MC (the latter two are impossible to find though). There is a great condition UV7BK on the bay right now for 1k. |
