1) I tune down to "A" and 24.75" is absolutely impossible to intonate at that scale and tuning and 2) It's ugly as fuck! But, it doesn't sound bad, not even with the stock pickup actually. Shit, it's mahogany .Rev. ![]() |

I own an AX7221. I've set the action amazingly, replaced the bridge pickup, sounds and plays beautifully.
Watching you badmouth it pains me. This sites kinda full of "hollier than thou" pricks who think their opinions count for shit when they just do and play what you expect them to. You're not indiviuals as a whole. Fags. *shanks*
So maybe I am bound by fate

I was at the Ishibashi a few days ago and I was just going down the Ibanez section counting tuning pegs (to find the seven-strings, since they usually mix the sevens in with the sixes) and I saw one that was new for 24,000 yen I think it was (about $200) and I thought, "What kind of a cheap...?" and then I realized it was an AX7221 (might have been a different number, but it was an AX seven-string).I have had the chance to play this once and it was the worst seven-string I've ever played... It's the only Ibanez I've played that I thought sucked. Quote:
So you don't think there is any reason that the AX gets a bad rep? I guess I'm not an individual because I play an RG7EXFX2 (a somewhat rare guitar). I mean, everyone just expects me to play a 27" scale baritone 7-string with EMG707s, but they would never expect me to play an AX7221. I wish I was unique like you, Rusty Shank. ![]() Last edited by Naren; 07-12-2007 at 03:28 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

Well I definitely going to check it out as I talked the guy down to $30 for it. I mean come on - shitty or not I guess its up to me to decide when I play it. But I guess beggars cant be choosy.

EDIT: Will forgo the AX7221 even for $30 and start looking for a digital camera on craigslist. This rg7620 refinishing is just too good to pass up without WIP picks. |

Yes, it really is that bad. The neck is like a baseball bat, the body is too heavy and cumbersome, the 24 3/4" scale makes the lows sound like mud, upper fret access is non-existent, the hardware and electronics are garbage, and the fretwork sucks. It is the worst 7-string Ibanez makes.
reply:- i own one and disagree, the stock pickups suck and the tuners were crap but replace em and its a good guitar for the price |
